The City of Holladay recently received a redevelopment application from Ivory Homes and Woodbury Corporation for the site of the former Cottonwood Mall, located at the southeast corner of Highland Drive and Murray Holladay Road. The developer is proposing to build a mix of housing types on about two-thirds of the 57-acre property, and mixed-use retail on the remaining third. The City did not formulate the proposed plan. There will be several opportunities for the Planning Commission and City Council to receive public input. No decision has been made.

The Planning Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, November 21 at 7:00pm. The agenda is now available for review.
The Holladay City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017, as close to 7:00 pm as possible, in the Holladay City Council Chambers, 4580 S 2300 E, Holladay UT.
The purpose of the hearing to review a proposal from Ivory Homes and Woodbury Corporation, to amend critical project elements of the Cottonwood Mall Site Development Master Plan (original adoption, 2007). The Planning Commission will review a new land development proposal for the old Cottonwood Mall site and how this new proposal compares to original development approvals granted in 2007. Elements to be reviewed include; residential, office and retail land use densities, building heights and massing, traffic/ transportation, parking and onsite amenities. PLEASE NOTE: City Hall is OUT OF leaf bags. Residents can also use and drop off their own purchased leaf bags or lawn bags, as long as they only contain leaves.

A construction kickoff for Knudsen Park, a new public park located immediately south of the intersection of 6200 South and Holladay Boulevard, is slated for November 2017. Site work will first focus on environmental restoration, including:
Big Cottonwood Creek
– Restore and stabilize the streambank at key locations;
– Improve public access with the addition of new paths and bridges.
– Improve health of native species (i.e., Scrub Oak, Cottonwood), while maintaining 60%+ of the existing site canopy;
– Remove invasive species (i.e., Siberian Elm and Tree of Heaven) and other trees in poor and/or unsafe condition;
-Plans to plant several new trees, shrubs, and other landscaping.
– Remove undesirable topsoil/debris and regrade to prepare for the construction of a new playground, picnic facilities, restrooms, etc.
PLEASE NOTE: During park construction, the Big Cottonwood Trail, through the Knudsen Park site only, will be closed intermittently from November 2017 to September 2018 for cyclist safety. The trail will re-open once conditions are deemed safe and passable by the City of Holladay. Cyclists are encouraged to use the recommended detour route of 6200 S to 2300 E to connect to the regional bicycle trail network. Knudsen Park – Bike Detour Map & Tree Restoration
